NASHVILLE, Tenn. Homelessness is a problem in both urban and rural settings. Rural homelessness can be tied to poverty, lack of affordable and adequate housing options, high unemployment rates and the remote and isolated nature of rural settings. Individual circumstances, socio-economic structures and environmental circumstances can all lead to homelessness in both urban and rural environment.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - On Oct. 29, nearly 100 community and healthcare leaders gathered at Saint Thomas Midtown to celebrate the accomplishments of the Safety Net Consortium of Middle Tennessee and Project Access Nashville Specialty Care. The breakfast celebration was hosted by the Nashville Academy of Medicine and Saint Thomas Health, a member of Ascension, the nation’s largest Catholic and non-profit health system.

CERC accepting applications for post-doctoral research fellow

NASHVILLE, Tenn. The Meharry-Vanderbilt Community Engaged Research Core (CERC) is accepting applications for a full-time, salaried post-doctoral research fellow. The ideal candidate will have a PhD or MD in a health disparities-related scientific or public health field. The purpose of this two-year position is to train the research fellow in community-engaged research methods and prepare fellows to conduct health sciences research using these approaches.

Meharry Research Concierge Services will present "VICTR Funding: The Application and Review Process" on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the CAHDR Conference Room from noon until 1 p.m. The presentation will provide an overview of the VICTR pilot funding mechanism. Topics will include eligibility and review criteria, types of funding and resources available, funding guidelines and the application and review process.
