NASHVILLE, Tenn. Despite a decline in cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality over the past decades, cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death among men and women in the USA. Sex-specific differences in CVD prevention, diagnosis, and treatment persist, and CVD in women is under-researched, misdiagnosed, and inadequately treated.
Meharry alum serves as a mentor, guide and trailblazer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Tiffany Megan Richburg, MD is a trailblazer. The Meharry Medical College (MMC) alum serves as an Assistant Professor within Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s (VUMC) Department of Anesthesiology, Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology. She’s one of very few African American women within that field, making her a rarity among her peers.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Two Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance (MVA) staff presented as Gold Mining Session Leaders at the Justice and Advocacy for Health in Tennessee Symposium. Jacquelyn S. Favours, MPH, CPH, CHES and Pilar Prather, M.Ed presented “Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance: A Community-Academic Partnership Fostering Community-Engaged Research.” They introduced medical students to the concept of community-engaged research (CEnR) and provided examples of MVA community academic partnerships.
