NASHVILLE, Tenn. On Wednesday, Dec, 6, 2016, Medical Grand Rounds will present 'The Ethics of Acute Kidney Injury in the ICU: When Can (Should) You Say No?' at the S. S. Kresge Learning Resource Center in Lecture Hall 2. Nader Bahri, MD, FACP, FASN, Assistant Professor (Nephrology) in the Department of Internal Medicine, will be the featured speaker.

The lecture will be from 12:10 - 1:15 pm.

 

OBJECTIVES:

  • Present reasons that increased risk for AKI in older patients
  • Describe extent of increased risk
  • Explain impact on Quality Of Life (QOL ) of dialysis initiation in older adults
  • Identify applicable ethical issues
  • Recommend shared decision-making prior to initiation
