The Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance intends to create a new system of clinical care aimed at a defined medical condition for people in a defined population. This new system should address the full continuum of care from screening to prevention to early diagnosis to acute care and life threatening care. Where applicable chronic care, rehabilitation, and end of life care will need to be provided in the model system

The clinical system will run for five years and then be expanded to a larger and more distant population and it should be fundable by the prevailing health care market.
